Mystery Box II by John Kennedy
While friend of The Trick Shop, Rob Sherwood, uses John Kennedy's Mystery Box II as the closer in his Ambitious Card routine, this effect is SO powerful that it can also stand alone as a single routine.
The Mystery Box II is made from solid walnut and features these new improvements over John's original Mystery Box:
1) The card really looks like it is in the box! The spectator really sees a creased and folded card inside of the box!
2) Following the production of the card, this Mystery Box can be handed out for examination! The Mystery Box II has been designed so that at the end of your performance the gimmick disappears into a recessed area that now allows the box to be fully examined by your spectators!
There are lots of various card magic routines that you can create around The Mystery Box II. You'll come up with plenty, trust me! Included is John's routine, which consists of a gamble with the spectator betting that you can locate their chosen, signed card within 10 seconds, while the cards are behind your back!
When you announce that you've located their card, you simply let them know that it's been in the little wooden box that's been sitting on the table, in the open, the entire time! Pick up the box, and have the spectator remove the lid. They'll be astonished to find out that they indeed see a folded up card inside the tiny box.
Tip over the box and dump out the card into their hand. Watch your spectator gasp, as they unfold the card to see that indeed it is their signed card that they chose earlier!

Mystery Box II by John KennedyGeorge LovettNovember 23, 2008I bought this a few years ago and still treasure it for it's elegence. However, I've never been able to get the palm off and fold sleigh good enough to perform. I've bought 2 decks of card and spent hours trying to learn the fold and haven't quite got it. If you can do the fold this is an awesome trick.
